I am running as a Republican in the primary election on
Tuesday, August 7, 2012. Please consider voting for me.
I’ve lived in the Grand Rapids area for most of my life,
with an interlude of fourteen years while I earned my Ph.D. from
Northwestern University and then taught for ten years at Southern
Illinois University. I have been at Calvin College since 1985. My
wife and I live in the Reeds Crossing condominium development at
the south end of the township. I’ve taken an interest in township
government since moving into it, sometimes being one of two or three
people in the audience at township board meetings.
See my biography page for
more information.
Why am I running? Because I want to make Grand Rapids Charter Township
visible to its residents. Ask yourself what do you know about the
township you live in. Who is on the township Board? What has the
township done in the last six months? If, like most people I have
talked with, your answer is “I don’t know,” it
is time to elect someone who thinks people should be able to know
what their township government is doing. See
the goals I will work toward if elected.
Please contact me if you have questions or suggestions
or are willing to help my campaign by having a yard
sign or talking with your neighbors. |
